Mixing Up Borax and Sugar Can Be Effective

Borax is actually toxic to ants, which means it will kill them in a very short amount of time. The key to making this method work is letting the ants take the Borax back to their colony.

Mint Jelly and Boric Acid

If you are not having success with Borax and sugar, then mixing up some boric acid and mint jelly may be your best course of action. You can find boric acid in either your local grocery or hardware stores.

The sugar in the mint jelly helps to attract the ants to this poison. Once they get the boric acid on them, the ants will die very soon thereafter.

When mixing up this concoction, you need to put two tablespoons of boric acid into eight ounces of mint jelly. Once you mix it thoroughly, you can place it on top of some masking tape to avoid damage to your countertops and flooring.
